Once Upon a Time television show review
By Myriam Hernandez
We all know the classics, Sleeping Beauty and Cinderella, but you have never seen Once Upon A Time's version. Where fairytales run free, and Snow White is a grandmother, Once Upon A Time shows you a different perspective on your favorite villains and heroes. This show adds gasp-worthy details to original favorites without ruining the movie plots. OUAT revolves around Snow White, her family and the citizens of Storybrooke (a magical town in Maine). As one of my favorites shows, trust me when I say that you will fall in love with the characters. For your own benefit, watch Once Upon A Time on Netflix or Hulu!

The Hunger games book review and book-to-film comparison By Melanie Jalbert
Book ReviewThis book written by Suzanne Collins is the first installation in the hunger games trilogy. This is a fast paced book which takes place in a dystopian future North America. There are 12 districts which are ruled by cruel President Snow. Every year 1 male and 1 female from each district is reaped and taken to the hunger games. The point of the games is that every tribute will die until only one is left, the victor. In this book Katniss’ sister, Prim, is reaped but Katniss volunteered as a tribute. The male tribute being
Peeta Mellark. The book follows Katniss’ adventure in the games as well as her experiences. This is a well written book worth anyone's time, as well as a bestseller. This is a must read for people of all ages. This book now has a movie adaptation that came out in 2012. There are barely any flaws in this story, and the characters are appealing as well as interesting. |
Book-TO-Film comparisonThe Hunger Games is a truly astonishing book with a magnificent movie adaptation. Yes, the movie has some flaws, but it all gets payed up with all the fantastic details and actors. This adaptation is one of the best ones there is, since most book-to-film adaptations usually get many important events wrong or mixed up.
Some details that the directors got wrong were that the mockingjay pin Katniss wears in the movie, she bought, when in the book a girl named Madge gives it to her as a token of her tribute. Also, Gale does not appear in the movie too much, as he does in the book. As for the hob, in the movie it does not appear at all, despite the fact that in the book it is one of the most relevant places in District 12. Even though the movie has some flaws, it is one of the most accurate adaptations ever made. The book and the movie do have one thing in common- they both tell one of the most exiting stories of all time. |

The Maze Runner Book Review
By Melanie Jalbert
“The Maze Runner” written by James Dashner is a story of a boy named Thomas who is deposited in a maze with only boys. He becomes a runner and is trying to find a way to leave the maze. A new girl named Teresa then tells them something that changes everything. Now they must find a message and escape into the real world. This story is a fast paced action packed story which holds you until the very end. The development of the plot is great and the characters are fantastic. This is the first book in this series and it has a movie adaptation. I highly recommend this book to action and fantasy lovers. |
Harry potter and the prisoner of Azkaban Movie reviewBy Lara Gomez
“Harry Potter and the Prisoner of Azkaban” is the third movie of the Harry Potter series. In previous movies Harry lived with his uncles who always mistreated him after his parents died. He was always unhappy until he found out that he was a wizard and that he would attend Hogwarts School for witches and wizards. There, he meets his best friends, Ron and Hermione. In this movie, a very dangerous man, Sirius Black, escapes from a high security prison, Azkaban. He was known as a murderer and trader. Since he escaped, dementors, dark creatures that take out happy memories, start to show up. They mostly affect Harry because of what he has suffered in the past. A new professor, Lupin, helps Harry get rid of the dementors. After sneaking into a private meeting, he also finds out that his godfather is Sirius Black. After going inside the Whomping Willow, he finally meets Sirius. He learns Sirius’ true past and he never murdered or betrayed anybody. To save Sirius from suffering, Harry goes back in time with Hermione and lets Sirius escape. “Harry Potter and the Prisoner of Azkaban” is an exciting and adventurous movie. It was based on the Harry Potter novel by JK Rowling. |
